The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has recently made updates to its List of Prohibited Substances and Methods. These updates will come into effect on 1 January 2024.
The WADA Prohibited List is a crucial component of the World Anti-Doping Code, to which all Signatories, including the FAI, must adhere. The list specifies the substances and methods that are prohibited in both in-competition and out-of-competition settings, as well as the substances that are banned altogether.
At a special ‘Fly Clean’ stand at the recent 4th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships in Slovakia, FAI and the Slovak Anti-Doping Agency (SADA) helped to raise awareness and open discussion about doping-free sport amongst the competitors.
The 2023 Annual Symposium of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) took place last week in Lausanne, Switzerland. It gathered more than 1,000 participants (around 850 in person and 150 virtually) from the global anti-doping community, under this year’s theme: ’United Toward a World of Doping-Free Sport’. Among them were FAI representatives Geoffrey McCarthy MD and Kamila Vokoun Hajkova.
The final webinar in the 2022 FAI Fly Clean series will take place on Wednesday 14 December at 14:00 UTC and will cover the topic of Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).
With the objective to share detailed information on TUE procedure, the FAI Secretariat aims to help FAI members, FAI athletes and their entourage to navigate the systems in place for therapeutic use exemption for substances on the WADA prohibited list.
The FAI Fly Clean webinar series continues on 16 November with the second edition giving an insight into the risks of nutritional supplements and shedding light onto the WADA’s Prohibited Substance List.
The FAI Fly Clean webinar series begins on Wednesday 19 October 2022 with an ‘Introduction to Fly Clean’. Hosted by Kamila Vokoun Hajkova, FAI’s dedicated Anti-Doping Manager, the webinar will outline the importance of fair play in air sports, and the role of the FAI anti-doping programme with regards to how testing affects athletes’ routines and helps to embed positive values within their sport.
The FAI Fly Clean webinar series begins on 19 October 2022. These webinars are hosted by the FAI Anti-Doping Manager who will introduce and explain key points about anti-doping in air sports alongside guest speakers.
Three seminars will be held via Zoom and are open to anyone in the air sports community. The aim is for athletes, event organisers, team coaches, even family of junior competitors to find out more about the FAI Fly Clean programme and understand the rules, rights and responsibilities related to clean sport.
The first WADA Annual Symposium since 2019 was held in hybrid format in Lausanne between 11-12 June 2022 and was attended by around 600 delegates in person as well as over 200 online.
