There's a steady stream of competitors and officials arriving at the tunnel here in Laval - lots of meeting and greeting as well as the obligatory hugs and kisses - as friendships are renewed. The registration process is on-going throughout the day, coupled with dedicated time-slots for training flights. 

Teams and individuals alike have different speed requirements and the task of adjusting the flow is unsurprisingly down to the speed controllers - seen here on the left. They also manage the timing of each slot within the tunnel, so they have a very important role during the competition.
